Our facilities

Private car park and entrance porch
The practice has its own private car park right outside the front door. The entrance is at street level and all consulting and operating rooms are on one level, making them accessible to all. If you need help bringing your pet into the practice from the car park please come in and ask at reception – we will be happy to help you. There is also additional parking in the council operated car park next to the practice.

Reception
The reception is the hub of the practice. Staff are available throughout the day to help with any general enquiries and there will often be a vet available to give advice if required. Because we are a mixed practice there are occasions when all the vets are out on visits, so please telephone first to make an appointment if you need to see a vet.

Waiting area and weighing scales
The waiting area also accommodates the weighing scales. You are very welcome to pop in with your pet during office hours to use this facility. We will keep a record of your pet’s weight on their medical notes and can provide advice regarding weight loss if required.

Life-stage and prescription food
Veterinary HPM is a new generation of pet food, specially developed to provide the closest match to the nutritional needs of your pet. The result is a pet food that is perfectly adapted to your pets needs through every life stage.
Prescription foods are also available and may be prescribed for your pet by a vet. We offer a range of prescription foods from Vet Complex, Hills and Royal Canin.

Notice boards
Notice boards are kept up to date with local animal related services, as well as some classified advertisements. Please note that although staff may offer personal opinions on some adverts we accept no responsibility for any arrangements or contracts made with third parties advertising on our boards.

Historical veterinary cabinet
A long standing farm client kindly donated a cabinet which houses a selection of old-fashioned farm medicines. You will be relieved to know that veterinary medicine has progressed a long way!

Consulting rooms
There are three consulting rooms where the majority of appointments take place. If we do need to do tests or take samples, this will normally be done in the consulting room so you can be with your pet.

In-house lab for fast results
Our in-house laboratory equipment includes a blood analysis machine and a microscope for investigating skin problems. This allows us to give your results quickly – sometimes while you wait.

Separate dog and cat wards
There are two separate kennel rooms allowing cats staying at the practice to be accommodated in a separate room to dogs.

Purpose built operating theatre
Our purpose built spacious operating room has all the facilities required for modern day routine and emergency surgery including gaseous anaesthetics, pulse-oximeter, ultrasound and x-ray facilities. Patients are closely monitored during surgery by our trained staff.

K-Laser Therapy
Laser therapy can help treat a wide range of conditions effectively and without pain including: Joint Pain and Osteoarthritis, Tendonitis, Odema and Congestion, Chronic pain/Lameness, Fractures/Sprains/Strains, Trauma, Puncture Wounds, Dermatitis, Neck and Back Pain, Hip Dysplasia, Burns, Infected & Chronic Wounds, Rehabilitation and Recovery from surgery.

Maelor Veterinary Centre
Our branch practice provides first line veterinary treatment for the village of Overton-on-Dee and surrounding areas. It boasts a spacious consulting room and large waiting room. While we will aim to provide as many services as possible at this site we will sometimes need to send you to Ellesmere where all operations are performed and in-patient care provided.
